WHAT DOES THE PESCATARIAN DIET CONSIST OF

  1. We do not eat meat (Chicken, Pork, Beef, Duck, etc.)

  2. We do eat seafood

  3. Some eat dairy, including eggs

What are common health benefits?

Since seafood is a source of lean protein, a Pescatarian diet is known to help with weight loss and can prevent diabetes, obesity, heart disease and other health issues. The Pescatarian diet is also known to help prevent cancer since seafood is high in nutrients and often meat is high in hormones. Seafood is high in lean Omega-3s and low in saturated fats, helping boost brain power and muscle recovery. However, you will not get these health benefits from just eating fish and chips!

How do i prevent mercury poisoning?

People often do not go on Pescatarian diets because they are worried of Mercury poisoning. Pescatarian diets are often considered Vegetarian with the occasional seafood and that is what we recommend. Eat seafood 3-4 times a week, not excessively. Avoid or just eat occasionally ‘gamey’ fish including king mackerel, swordfish and shark, and eat smaller fish like salmon, cod, shellfish, haddock or canned tuna.

What are tips on starting a Pescatarian diet?

We recommend you start by giving up one thing at a time. For example, just give up red meat. Once you are comfortable, give up another meat product, and so on. Meanwhile, experiment with vegetarian meals.
